what did you think of the vice-presedential debate? Also, are you a republican or a democrat?

i didn't hear most of it. i heard some of it on the radio while driving. i don't care much for these debates; the candidates are seeking verbal points, and the percieved wins and losses depend a lot - too much - on the sometimes-theatrical responses of the moment. a presidential debate today should be like an internet forum where the candidates can give thoughtful, well-considered responses to questions.Rashmun wrote:what did you think of the vice-presedential debate? i am an independent leaning towards libertarianism. i much prefer free-market economics, minimal regulation, and small government, but will tolerate short-term government intervention in the form of large increases in government spending when consumption spending spirals down as it has in recent years.
while each candidate performs to please his support group, i think romney performs more, and that's not a pleasant sight. i see no strong evidence that obama is a socialist, for we've seen him only in the direst of economic times. republicans should not be painted as heartless people; there is sound logic in striving to increase the size of the pie, as opposed to distributing the available one "equitably."
i shall have many questions to ask obama, were i to meet him face to face, especially on foreign wars. on that front, i am disappointed in him.
at an emotional and personal level, i like obama and dislike romney. i actually like ryan. he's in a difficult position as a vice presidential candidate, but is great presidential material.

interesting. i am fairly indifferent to romney, but developed a dislike for ryan after this debate particularly after hearing his position on social security and health care and also his position on abortion. Biden came across as a likable character but i can see why republicans would be annoyed at his constant smiling and laughing during the debate.
